Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying being back at basketball!
Trials
We've just wrapped up our third week of trials, and this coming week will mark the final round. Southwest will soon provide us with details on team placements and divisions, based on the evaluations from the past three weeks.
Performance Consultant – moving into Sports psychology
The purpose of this initiative is to work with our Coaches, players and parents and create value that extends beyond the game of basketball. We are aiming to teach our children through this program invaluable life skills that will serve them well throughout their entire lives.
We are thrilled to announce that we've engaged Matthew Hodgson, a professional basketball player with a wealth of experience including stints with the Brisbane Bullets and Adelaide 36ers, as well as an international player. Matthew holds a Masters in Psychology and currently works with state teams across various sports. He will begin working with our coaches starting March 8, and after each workshop, we’ll send out a weekly newsletter to keep everyone updated.
Matthew will do sessions with all age groups with parents and players and we will send something out for registration. Rockets will fund these sessions so it will be free for everyone.
Movie Day
Additionally, we’re in the process of organizing our yearly movie day, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 3. We plan to feature two different movies for different age groups and will keep you informed as we finalize the details.
Overseas tour
We will be taking an U18 team to China for games from April 7 to 16th.
Shorts have arrived
For those who ordered shorts, our stock has now arrived!
Thank you
I would like to take a moment to thank our coaches, managers, and coordinators for their hard work this season, managing 94 teams and 900 registrations. I would love to list every person who helps but I am sure I would miss someone which would be terrible. When I look around, I see the co-ordinators, coaches, managers, parents on the score bench, families who wash the singlets and the quiet achievers behind the scenes, the list goes on.
What I get amazed at, is that we are bigger than a lot of the schools in the area and everyone is a volunteer. The success of our club is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, who work tirelessly for the benefit of every child, and we do this so our children can experience wonderful memories in their childhood.
If you have any suggestions or queries, I encourage you to think about how you can contribute in making a difference and contact us.
I get such a buzz seeing so many smiling faces!
