SUBJECT – Season 2 Underway!

Dear Members,

We hope this newsletter finds you well. It's been an exciting first week of trials, and we wanted to update you on the latest happenings and upcoming events.

SHORT BREAK

I wanted to personally inform you that I will be taking a short break for several weeks from my role to recover from some planned surgery. During this period, the committee, coordinators, coaches, and all our dedicated volunteers will ensure that the season continues to progress smoothly. Please continue to use this email, which is managed by several of our volunteers and a reminder of our Coordinators, committee & other key volunteers' contact details for any queries.

COMMUNICATION

Our team WhatsApp groups are the best method of communication during the season.

TRIAL/GRADING UPDATES

We have completed the first week of trials, with two more weeks to go. Please remember that trials do not count towards any points in the season; they are conducted to assess player performance during games.

HOW WE GOT HERE

Our Welcome Day was a huge success! We hired the school hall for the entire day on Saturday, 6th July. A dedicated team of eight people assisted with both new and existing registrations, and four individuals provided support and guidance to new members regarding uniforms and sports equipment. We were fortunate to have the support of five external coaches who assisted our 48 attending coaches. On the day, our coaches assessed more than 600 players!

TEAM ALLOCATION

On Sunday, 7th July, the Coordinators organised over 600 players and 190 new registrations into 77 teams. We then notified Southwest Metro that the teams were ready for games to begin. For the first week of Friday and Saturday games, we prepared uniforms for all 77 teams and arranged external paid coaches for 15 teams.

COACHING SUPPORT & EXTERNAL COACHES

Our Head of Coaching, Mack Utai, has started his Coaching Support Program for our coaches. Additionally, we are utilising several external coaches thanks to a grant and support from our sponsors. We had an amazing session for our first Coaches Clinic of the season – see some pics below. More sessions will be announced soon.

SPONSOR UPDATE

We were thrilled to have our sponsor, QFord, display their electric Mustang at the front of Runcorn State High School during the games. The car boot was filled with soft drinks, adding to the excitement of the event. We truly appreciate QFord's support.

EVENTS

During the break in June, some of our Rockets teams represented the club in the Brisbane Bullets 3on3 competition! Here are a couple of shots.

DRAW ISSUES

We acknowledge that there were some issues with the draw for the first week, but we have taken immediate action to rectify them. The draw for this week's matches should now be accurate.
